    1973 porsche carrera rs 2.7l lightweight (m471)

    vin #9113601517

this car was manufactured in june of 1973 one of the very late production rs lightweight 3'rd series cars. Delivered new to peter max muller dealership in hannover, germany (decal still in rear window) with limited slip and rear window defroster in gran prix white with blue graphics. One of only two hundred rare factory lightweights ever produced.

This special car was only in germany until 1978 when it was exported to japan to a private collection. It is believed the car came with a 250kmh speedo as opposed to the later 300kmp speedo and is still only showing circa 85,000 kms (52,700 miles) which is believed to be original. It appears to have all of its original panels, glass, undercoating, dash, etc. So the fact of low mileage makes this a unrestored and absolutely original and correct lightweight rs. Repainted many years ago and changing the original blue graphics and wheels to red, the car still is one of the most original cars we have seen. Of course it still has its original motor and gearbox which were recently serviced in japan prior to being shipped here to carmel, ca. The factory original front vin stamp number, aluminum front factory vin plate and the original factory build number are still in original and correct condition. A factory roll bar was added and a front strut brace leaving the rest of the car as delivered. The door gaps are perfect and the undercarriage has all its original third series undercoating as when it left the factory in 1973. It is also believed to retain every original piece of sheet metal from new and showing no rust whatsoever or any body damage.

Finding a rs today in this type of original condition is near impossible especially in lightweight production. Being stored in private museums for over over 34 years makes this a one of a kind original unrestored factory lightweight and we encourage you to review carefully the photos. Inspections are welcome.

Pics work nicely. I can even tell it has a correct patterned headliner.

    $545 huh?

I know people place great emphasis on petina but at what point does one allow for overlooked "tidying up" or maintenance? There's a fine line between original and "ignored".

The late M471 Carreras were produced with steel rear bumpers and chrome guards. This car still retains these parts, which is unusual, but someone must have painted or coated the bumper guards white. Typical of an RS that went to Japan, the plastic fuel tank is missing and steel one in it's place. Interesting comment about the 250 KM speedo. I wonder what the date stamp is on the speedo?

Agreed Frank, this car needs at least a good engine out detailing done at that price level IMHO.

It's gained a glovebox lid too. Way too much added weight for a lightweight.
