Wevo or others require a 915 shift tower, correct ?

I see that the Wevo shifter is available for model year 1972, but my car has a skinny shifter - not the big 915 shifter base. So, am I correct in thinking that if I want to retain the stock look, I'm S.O.L on that front ?

Is there another all inclusive spring centered shifter alternative that works on skinny 72 915 shifters ?

Wevo (which I have and love) requires a factory tower to complete. I understand the Rennshifter comes complete... other's may chime in on that.

    Greg,
I have the Rennshifter and it does come with its own shift base, but will in no way look like the stock shifter. Close, but no cigar, as they say, to a 915 shift assembly. More like a Mil Spec version of a 915 shifter, to my mind. Love the way it shifts.

Some years ago, there was a spring & pin kit that improved the shift action of the early shifter.

There is also a fellow on the Pelican site that sells a 915 modification kit, his name is Sherwood and it is called the Seine shifter. He has a lot of them in the field now, and I think it does what you may be looking for - mainly the spring loading of the action for more positive shifting.
    You might check into,that.

The Robotek (no longer available I think) and the Seine system only work on the later 915 tower.

I saw this on Pelican- http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...shift-fix.html

Read through the entire thread and make up your own mind of the benefits...the comments from Walt Fricke are worth noting. I don't know Walt personally, but from his posts he knows his stuff and has many years of hands on knowledge.
