Thanks. I just measured my bars- front 19mm and rear 18mm. The front has an adjustable brackets, obviously not stock. The reason for all of this was a rattle and banging from the front end. It was diagnosed as bad shocks .... turned out to be worn out solid white plastic sway bar bushing. Sounded like the whole front suspension was loose and about to fall out.
I am in search of at least new front sway bar bushings, (not hard plastic!) this is not a track car. My target is a great handling street car. The rear bar has rubber bushings.
Hmmmmm buying used cars and then working on them is like an archeological forensic process ...... interesting what one finds.

You may want to give Elephant Racing a call. They are near you. Ask for their recommendations. Your bar is very stiff and may not be compatable with rubber bushings. I'm afraid rubberbushings would be crushed and destroyed in short order with the bar you have now.

In a 40 year old car that is to be driven on the street, I'd recommend going back to stock sway bars and rubber bushings. The less stress you put on the body the better. Rust, welds, metal fatigue. Why chance it ? Why stress the tub if you aren't going to drive like a maniac ?

I would consider the stock sways for street driving unless the roads are smooth where you plan do drive.
If you want to try some stock sways, I can loan a pair..
BTW now that it is home, how about a post in Show your ride?

Thanks for the offer Harvey. Also a good suggestion, I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Your existing bars with stock rubber bushings will work just fine, providing you like the added stiffness compared to the 15's. In your shoes I'd replace the front bushings and see if that's enough. Many people would barely notice any difference, others are more sensitive to larger bars.
