    OMG...

I hope those guys are OK.

And I hope Californian Walt Sikes and his co-pilot (#302) made it through that section unscathed in their '65 build 911.

Can't vouch for the reliability, but this link indicates there are reports that all folks are OK: http://funksterwtf.blogspot.com/2012...day-3-wtf.html

    Here's the story:

The news of the day began swirling around all conversations in the square about a five car pile up. After sifting through many recountings, here is what seems to have happened...
Paul Hladky and Adrian Gerrit in a Studebaker lost it on a corner and stopped , when a Porsche hit them and pushed them off the road on the hill. They were fine, until another Porsche lost it and hit the first Porsche, who hit the Studebaker and stuffed it down the rest of this small hill you see below.
But then, the story gets crazier. An Alfa driven by Trevor Pettennude and Joshua Finkleman spins out at the same turn and stops, both driver and navigator get out just in time to have a Mercedes lose it and hit their car, bringing the car collection at the bottom of the hill to a ridiculous toll of FIVE cars!
Incredibly, everyone is fine, only one broken ankle to report.

Unfortunately one of the leading Studebakers rolled multiple times in a separate incident , and the driver was killed.

I hope everybody makes it home. Tomas Lopez is doing this again this year, I hope he posts a report here.

Thanks for putting up these photos, Chuck. Sad that a Studebaker had a blown tire in the first stage and a crew member died in the ensuing roll-over -- but good news that nobody was seriously injured in the multi-car pile-up documented above. Solid cars and good safety equipment saved the day.

Driving in Mexico is a crap-shoot on the best of days; I gave it up long ago!

Living in Mexico isn't exactly a Trifecta.

The Isle of Mann TT. Mess up and it's all on you. No lawyers, no court dates. Run hard as you can and pray you finish in one piece.

In either case racing like this could never happen here. The "nannies" wouldn't allow it.

    + 1 on Walt and his Co-driver!
This year Walt's right seater is Tom Martinot, proprietor of Deutche Motorsport in Concord, Ca.

Where can I find more news on this? I'm an ex-Studebaker guy and concerned to know if anyone I may have known was involved. Thanks.
