Advice on determining the value of an engine

It is a 69S engine. It is mostly complete including MFI, shroud, fan, etc; but no dizzy, heat exchangers, oil lines. It's been sitting on a pallet for years and its history is unknown, I don't know why. I'm thinking about picking it up, rebuilding it, and keep my eye out for a 69S that needs an engine. Is 9K too much for this engine in unknown condition with unknown history?

    Thanks!

If I had a '69S that needed a correct, non-matching motor that had all of the hard to find pieces (MFI stuff, for instance), I would think that $9K was reasonable (as long as I didn't see a hole punched through the case). Will it turn?

Apparently it turns over just fine by hand, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to see it in person yet. Thanks for your input.
