I prefer going opening day, see everything first --- w/o the crowds + news accounts + etc . . . but this year, saw the Show a week late. Ditched work a coupla hours early, Thursday, machete'd my way out to Staples, and? . . . got the best parking I've ever had there --- actually worth taking a picture of. And no crowds

First stop? --- the Big Porsche Room

Kinda anxious about what was gonna show up there, so, peeked in, saw this GTS. Not my favorite Porsche --- but this car was something revolutionary, when it was new. Lightweight fiberglass bonded to a steel frame w/ their fiendish little 4-cam stuck right there in the middle . . . small, sleek, smart . . . minimal. Risky as hell, too. And what? --- 1800 lbs-worth? Surrounded here by New 991s + Boxsters + Caymans . . . and Cayennes

Funny how whenever Porsche displays their Old Cars . . . it leaves me shaking my head at their New

I thought it was one of the best LA shows I've been to in terms of the cars there.

    More New Cayman . . .

Anyone waiting for an 'entry-level' Porsche? . . . this is it, starting @/~ $66k. Most of the cars here were optioned-up to >$80k

Something about the proportions of these cars --- ginormous wheels, gun-slit windows, elephantine mirrors . . . almost cartoonish. And these are not small cars

    Cayenne

Probably Porsche's biggest money-maker, over at least the last 5 years

Or --- to put it another way . . . these trucks pay for all those Carrera GTs and 918 Spyders --- not to mention all the req'd R&D that goes with them

But things are a-changin' --- even out there in Porscheland

    Diesel

    And Hybrid . . .

. . . Which was probably the one theme that ran through/under-scored this particular show . . .

    Hybrids are here
