Everyone I know on the West Coast has the East Coast in our thoughts and prayers.

I've seen wind, I've seen rain and I left in a pretty good snowstorm today. WVA is our next-door neighbor and I wasn't hanging around for "what might happen".

BTW; Snowshoe Resort is going to have any early ski season from all accounts.

The folks in DE/NJ/NY got hammered. I've tried to contact a couple of guys without any success. I'm guessing they're cleaning up or have left town for warmer climes.

Hammered is right. We got creamed but made out much better than most. R Gruppe brother Paul C. lent me his generator (what a huge help that was) ... now power is back on for us. Big old backyard maple tree took a beating. Can't get into the city to work but have internet and I'm set up with my laptop and I'm working remotely. Might be able to get in tomorrow on a bus. The train will likely be down for a while.

During the height of the storm Monday night we had gusts above 70 mph for sure. Every couple of minutes the sky would light up from an exploded transformer or broken wires somewhere. We lost a bit of siding and a few roof shingles but we're in pretty good shape otherwise.

Good to hear that you're ok Mark, and that your family is fine.

    Is the car alright?!

Seriously, there are a lot of people that we can't get a hold of to check on. We're concerned. It's such a friggin' mess.

Thanks Jens and Ed... the car is fine. It's safe at the shop I use.

Really though -- just listening to a few minutes of local radio or watching the news -- the outcome of this storm was much worse than people expected. Horrible traffic jams ... two hour wait in lines for gas. Power outages everywhere. The Jersey shore was decimated. What a mess.
It's going to take a long time for things to return to normal.

    Recovering from Sandy

Thanks for thinking of us on the East coast. Power came back on overnight after a 3-day outage. Some large limbs down and shingles torn off the roof peak. Other than that, no substantial damage to my home. Others in my area of Bucks County weren't so lucky. I ventured out to my office on the Jersey coast yesterday. It looks like a war zone just down the road from my home along the Delaware river, a route that many of our Early S crew drive on a regular basis. The NJ coast area was a sight to behold. Miles of trashed houses and infrastructure and people waiting in 4-hour lines for gas. I texted with Raj, who doesn't know what may have happened to his shore home. His area (Long Beach Island) took a serious beating. I offered to rally our guys to help if he needs it, but they are anticipating 10+ days before they let anyone back on the island. We'll keep you posted.
