    901/02 gearbox rebuild, advise please

Am looking to rebuild original transmission s/n 4280506.

Need to replace main shaft, first gear set, and bearings. Where can I source these parts, bearing, new preferred, shaft and first gear set will need to be used I suspect.

Are there sensible upgrades that should be considered for the gearbox at this point ?

    Pictures in my restoration thread.

    many thanks rich

You asked for a mainshaft. I thought I had one, but they turned out to be three, 356 mainshafts. I may be able to get one from a friend. The gear that is cut into the shaft, unless you have a 904 mainshaft, is second gear and you need the matching second gear. You said you need a first gear, and show the small gear of a first gear set and say its damaged. I don't see any damage in the picture, You also show another gear and say its damaged? Its the reverse idler gear, and I don't see any damage on it either. I have attached pictures of my first gear set, and reverse idler. I am sorry about the mainshaft I thought for sure I had several. I will ask around, but wanted to get something out to you as soon as possible. The gear sets, as well as the mainshaft come in matched pairs in case you were not aware.
