    1968 911 gauges ?

A good friend just bought a 68, base model, not L or anything.
The car runs crazy hot per the gauge, I'd say 250-280 when my car barely hits 180 following him... but the gauges related to oil pressure, temp, are 912 style. They look like those of my 68 912 anyway.
No oil pressure gauge at all, no oil level either, just 912 style: fuel, temps and a red bulb for pressure.

Was that a possible spec for a 68 ? I've never seen a 911 without an oil tank level or pressure gauge. Those might be useful figuring out why it runs so hot, apparently... The car was also low on oil by 1.5 qts and the left side heater hose blocked off. Some exhaust popping too...
