    Mahle 911E P&C's

A friend of mine has a set of Mahle 911E Pistons & Cylinders that are almost new - they were in a car for about 3,000 miles and removed. The set also includes new rings. He's asked me to sell them for him and I can't for the life of me figure out what they might be worth. My early research indicates probably less than he thinks because it seems that most folks opt for S P&C's when they do a rebuild.

Can someone tell me what I should ask for these? Maybe just list them on eBay?

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,

John my best guess is around $400, even though it was 'only' 3,000 miles they're really not new anymore. (of course I could be WAY wrong )

Thanks, Ed. I doubt you're way wrong.

I've always thought that the 2.2 and 2.4 liter E's used the same P&C's as the bore was the same. My understanding is that the increased displacement was achieved through a longer stroke. If that's correct, then this set of E P&C's should work with either a 2.2 or 2.4 configuration.

Yes. I believe they both are 84mm, biral bores.

I believe the wristpin placements are different; that's why the 2.2 S set is an easy upgrade for 2.4 motors. You can gain about half a point of compression.

All 2.2 pistons have higher domes than their 2.4 counterparts.

Putting a 2.2 piston in front of a 2.4 crank will yield a nice bump in compression and, therefore, performance. A great upgrade for the 2.4 rebuild on a budget.
