Has ANYBODY replaced the windshield washer motor on the washer fluid tank?

....I am embarrassed to say how much time I've spent on this. So far I've-

    -used lube
-levered the little circle trying to press it into the round hole on the washer pump
-heated the white plastic tank and then tried pressing it into the hole
    -(above) and levered it
-put the white tank into the freezer

etc, etc. Thought I got it but .....

Your experience, suggestions and methods and repair links would greatly be appreciated.

With sore hands and grumpy disposition,

Did you have water in the tank before freezing it. This technique has worked for me.

No, do you suggest freezing water in the tank before trying to get the motor bracket on?

Yes. Fill with water just above the round mounting protrusion. Tank will not crack or collapse while mounting the bracket.

Great idea. The tank may just be too old-the pump bracket wouldn't stay secured on tank so I used a dab of clear silicone on it. Now its secure.

What do I do with the ice?

I filled mine with water and froze it to mount the bracket. Was still difficult, but I could not get it on without the ice keeping it rigid.

Unbelievable. Now that I destroyed the current bottle, I will order an oem one, fill and freeze the water and give this a whirl. This has taken on a very funny theme now.

Well, keep us posted. I finally gave up and used a series of tie-wraps to hold the pump in place.

I have done a great deal of work on my vintage cars for 20 years. No job? has frustrated me more. I needed to start to laugh after 2 hours in the garage. I greased the bottle and pump housing, took the bracket off the pump thinking maybe it would be easier that way (no), stuck a dull edged phillps head screwdriver in to push it out,,,,,,, all while I am only laughing (and using some words I have not used in quite a while)

I am understanding the tie wrap use! Now I await a new pump and bottle and shall go with the frozen bottle aproach. If this does not work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
