recently my 90 yr old dad came across an invoice for a 66 911 he picked up over in stuttgart in february 66. He use to do the arrive and drive thing, pick up the car, drive around europe and ski for two weeks then fly home. evidently the exchange rate was good enough that he got the car and a free vacation out of the deal. Vin Number 303.456 engine # 903.638. I see registries for T's E's ad S's but nothing for just plain old 911's. how would you go about trying to see if the car is still out there? car was originally shipped to NH.

Can you confirm all the vin numbers? There will be a tranny # and paint code.
Something like ######. I guess I needed to assume dropping the ###.### on the sales sheet

I think he's got the vin # correct. Just remove the "." and you've got 303456. This number is found in one thread, but I couldn't make sense of the reference.

Color code 6602 B followed by a few spaces with 6207040. While I was too young to remember this car he liked red and had a couple of red 9ll e's

On the continent it is not uncommon to use periods where we would use commas and vice-versa in order to mark thousands in numerals.
We write 102,456 and they write 102.456
So if the numbers are handwritten on the sheet, it may just be force of habit that the person put the periods in. Even if they typed them in, it might have just been natural for them to write it as they would a large number.
Just a guess of course.

Dave -K 372 is the Zuendschloss, or ignition key number
cc 86 is the Schulessel, or key number (must be the glovebox key)

Solex Carburetors

6207040 is a mystery- it looks like a 1970 911E motor serial number

Thanks, I was pretty sure it would be the glove box key #, but wanted an expert to confirm it.
I wish we had a photo of the invoice, sounds almost as good as the Kardex.
