    latest EXCELLENCE, issue #206.

Was working on Ruprecht in the driveway this morning with one eye towards the heavens because the forecast called for intermittent showers, even though it remained beautifully sunny most of the morning. Well, intermittent showers my a** ! Went in the house around noon to grab a bite and catch up on the news, and when I looked outside the skies had opened up. First time Ruprecht had ever gotten wet while I've owned it. Put the car away, and while toweling it off, what do you know, the mailman brings the latest issue of my favorite Porsche-only periodical. The timing couldn't have been better.

The usual and expected great selection of articles, particularly Randy W's tome on Terry English's 911R clone, and I particularly enjoyed Mark Morrissey's delightfully informative segment on a subject about which he obviously feels very affectionately and cares about deeply, MOMO steering wheels. A permanent reference opus, for sure.

After reading this finely crafted & stellar issue from cover to cover, one can only hope that Pete is working with his replacement to ensure continuity of the format & standards he established during his stint at Excellence.

Thank you, Pete, for all the news, information and great reading you have provided over the years. Best of Luck in your new endeavor.

Well said John .... Hope that Pete's efforts at PCA's Panorama are as effectively poignant as they were in developing Excellence over the years. For me , it went from a so-so piece into one of the best in the market.

    Sorry about Ruprecht.
He will survive nature's bath..... so, did he seem any different after this most unusual occurrence for him ?

Pete's very busy now, or I'm sure he would have posted.

Thanks to all for supporting Pete at Panorama, as well as Excellence. As Mark says, he is a great guy to work with. I wouldn't be surprised if Pano gets a big face lift and Excellence continues to look great. Cheers!

    EXCELLENT MOMO story Mark.
Thanks for sharing your world with the rest of us MOMO deprived illiterates......I actually have one, but it is a newer variety that came with my late 911 Carrera and not one of the more stellar varieties found on some of the early race cars.
Again, appreciate your education on this most intriguing subject matter. Great job !

As a 20 year magazine guy myself, I consider Excellence under Pete's direction the finest gearhead magazine in a crowded field, and among the best produced magazines, period. I used it as an example when teaching copyediting and layout in a college-level course. And I enjoyed reading every issue I could get my hands on. Curious to see what he has in mind for Panorama, which is already a pretty good book.

Plus, Terry's 911R has given me some evil ideas for turning Oofie into some sort of "912R" homage. Well played, sir.
