    Fog Light Cover Plates

I have been looking at various comments concerning Fog Light Cover Plates and had thought that there were two different sizes.

    65-68 and then 69-73

Sierra Madre Collection list only a single size from 65-73 with a genuine Porsche Part Number.

I am sure someone knows whether or not there are two different sizes.

I am not sure about the size (I would need to compare them) but do know that there are 2 different styles the way they mount.

I agree that mountings are different and this can be seen in the bumpers.

I will try to find some ealry covers as I do have a later set.

Chris if you post a picture w/ how and where you measured I will post an identical picture w/ an early cover.

Richard, As I remember the early ones were smaller... enough to be inside rather than over the opening. Mounting on the fog light bolt I believe. Can't find a picture right now but. I'll look. Jim B. will know for sure.

Early cars had fog light covers that mounted with a single bolt to that same location that the fog light would attach. Next style was held on with two bolts and a flat bracket across the rear. Early version 6 1/2" x 4 1/4". Later 7" x 4 7/8". Later ones can fit early cars as well. Sorry don't know part numbers

    The originals were 902 505 055 20 and 902 505 056 20 superceeded to 902 505 055 21 and 902 505 056 21
Looks like they were superceeded and discontinued as soon as the new style was made for 67.... 305101>. (prob a running change)
BTW they carry a 902 (912) part number because the (first) 911s had fog (driving) lights standard and the fogs were a special order on the 912s.
The part numbers are given to the first car that used the part. (ie 904 mainshaft etc...)
Same part number used until the bumpers were replaced for the G series.
