New re-edition of Porsche Hood Crest : here it is

Looks just OK to me.

It's easy to tell the differences as compared to the vintage one's.

I would say it looks nothing like an early crest, there is no orange in those bars. And in my opinion that looks like crap.

I could make one right now that would look 100 % better than that and once done tracking down the original enamel that was used for the orange bars it will look even better.

I'm working on this right now and it is currently a work in progress but it is going well. I will let you know when I get the process down.

There have been several posts regarding the new 'Classic' emblem. IMO, it's a nice alternative to a red bad badge and certainly looks better than a Stoddard repop however, it doesn't really look like an original. How hard is it to get the pebbling smaller for crying our loud? The plating never seemed to be that "blingy" either.
I suppose I'd be upset if the repop looked exactly like an original though, given that I searched out an NOS original for my own hood.

Nice try, but I don't think the repop will take the place of an original for the hard core.

I have both.. and Eli is working on one of mine. (Go Eli) Anyways... the problem on the new ones is that either you need to strap it on the nose of a jet liner for a a couple of months or do like you did when you were kids to wear out that dang pair of new shoes and went crazy using your new shoes as brakes on your bike. Mine that I had bought from Stoddards last year and already is starting to show a bit of patina.
The original however is different. For example, with the new one- stare carefully at the horse's tail.. you will see there has been some kind of artistic license that went on. Also .. the font seems off.

I like it because it is new, from Porsche and it shines. The time will decide what to do with it. Do you remenber how it was 40 years ago ?

It is "correct" in that it's how a car maintained at a Porsche dealership would have been repaired had someone replaced the front badge. You can't really argue with that. No, it doesn't quite match the original, but it is the manufacturer's recommended OEM replacement, so it is not wrong by any stretch. If you sent your car to Porsche Classics and spend how ever much money to restore it, this is the badge they would put on it.

It's like the old one-piece replacement dashes. They weren't the same as the originals, but they were correct OEM replacements (neglecting the fact that some didn't fit well).

If you had your car dealer serviced over the years, these are the parts they would have used. Not original, but correct.

No matter how beautiful the repop, it's not original, nor is it correct. But it may well fool everybody.

In my grading scheme we have
Original - as came from the factory at the time of manufacture (or used or true NOS given that it is impossible to tell them from original on a car most of the time, especially after they have aged a bit).
Correct - what your car would get if you took it to a dealer.
Repro - all reproductions, even if of the highest caliber - they aren't made by/for Porsche.
Everything else - like it says.
