What is the Fuch part # for 944 8x15 ?

I'd like to get a pair of 8x15" Fuchs, with the larger backspacing... I'm told the Fuchs for the 944 are the ones I'm looking for. Anyone know what the part number would be for 951 (944) 8x15 fuch?

I thought there was an 8x15 with the 944 offset.... I was told there was..??

There is, but it is for the first series cars up to 85.1

The series 2 car for 85.2 and 86 is a later offset different from the first cars. I have several ONE series cars with Fuchs and in 7 by 16 and 8 by 15, but no 8 by 15 or 16 on series 2's. Those cars were almost always outfitted with Fuchs manhole covers in 8 by 16 ---- the 928 S forged alloy Fuchs ----- or in 16 inch Fuchs with the one year only offset patterns before they came as outfitted with the phonedials, manhole covers, or design 90 styles.
Check with Harvey Weideman on this....... he would certainly know if there was a small batch made in 8 by 15for the later 944's in the windmill pattern of the traditional Fuchs wheel we all identify with.

And please correct me if I am wrong on any of this Harvey...... I can pull a wheel on a series one car and get that number if you need, or get the offsets for the 8 by 16 in manhole Fuchs. Just pm me

I actually did email Harvey.... here is a portion of what he told me:

The 951 8X15 has a little under 5 1/4 back space. The standard 8X15 has a little over 4 3/4 back space. So roughly about 1/2 more clearance than a standard 8X16.

So I'd like to find two 8x15 with the 5 1/4 backspacing.... anyone got a pair? I'm assuming they'd have 951 part numbers...but I don't know.

according to both these charts there is no such animal as an 8 by 15 for a 951. They were all 8 by 16.

Checked my Fuchs wheels part numbers on my early series one cars and they are the same in 8 by 15 as the ones on 911's.
The part numbers are ending in .020.42. Which is also what is shown in these charts.

Maybe the issue here is a mistakenly compared 8 by 15 with an 8 by 16 in backspace measurement. OR, the two different 8 by 16's available for series one versus series two cars-- the 112 mm spacing compared to the 125 mm.

I do not think I have ever seen a 951 offset 15 inch Fuchs. Think they were all 16's......... please correct me here if I am wrong. I would like to know too if such wheels exist in 951 turbo offset in 15's.

If not mistaken, the two offsets ---- in 16 inch ----- that came on the 8 inch wheel for 944 turbos or 951 , were made with a deeper offset to accomodate the 87 and up cars with the abs braking and different calipers needed for the higher hp cars Porsche knew were coming next with the Turbo S pkg introduced mid year in 88.

The fairly uncommon Fuchs that arrived for 1.5 years came on the 85.2 and 86 cars have the different offset that accomodates the non - abs early turbo cars. They are quite scarce, and appear from face side, quite differently in their look. Especially on the front wheel which was a 7 by 16.
Am not really sure any of these were utilized on factory 911 cars.

OK, here's the scoop. 15" fuchs in 7's and 8's came on early offset 944's. Early offset being '86 and earlier, though it's also worth noting I see a lot more '83 and '84 944's with fuchs than I do '85 and '86. Cookies and phone dials are more common in '85 and '86, perhaps Porsche was trying to cut costs.

The '87 and later 944's are late offset, that's when the disc wheels made their appearance. I think you'll see phone dials on these cars as well as there are early and late phone dials. I don't know too much about phone dials, because, well, they're phone dials.

The '86 944 turbo is the oddball in that it's early offset and it uses 7 and 8 16" fuchs with a 951 part number. The 7's look like 911 6's and the 8's look like 911 7's from the outside, but both wheels are 23mm offset. The change in appearance is not to accommodate a different offset but rather to make room for the 4 piston brakes. 15's will not fit over those brakes without some clearancing on the calipers.

So...the 951 fuchs are a 1986 turbo only phenomenon, and they were never used on a 911.
