Thread: Found and bought a 66 911

    Found and bought a 66 911

My friend was given a car. When i went with him to get it, there was a Porsche sitting next to it. I asked the owner what the deal was with the Porsche. He said it wasnt for sale, and that he was going to fix it. He wasn't a car guy, he just liked the car and bought it. It has been sitting since '97. Anyway, I kept asking my friend to ask about the car and the owner agreed to sell me the car. I've been on this site and Pelican parts since I saw the car and have learned a lot about the engine numbers and paint code. The car was painted black over the original silver (6206 paint code). I believe it is a numbers machine car. The car is all there except for the toolkit and jack. I can't wait to start on it. From what i can see, the car needs some floor pan replacement and rocker panel work. So in the near future I will be on here a lot asking questions.

It does appear to have possibilities. Silver was an extra cost option. I look forward to a restoration thread.

Very cool barn find! Please post the after cleanup pics - I love those. Make sure you do the initial start properly. You don't want to screw things up before you've started working on it.

Love hearing about these barn finds.

I'd say get it running and then decide how to move forward.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Welcome to the club! Late March 1966 going by the number. Does your weber linkage have a stiffening rib? I expect it does not. Can't wait to see more photos.

I restored '065 over the last seven years including rebuilding the engine. Happy to answer any questions about where to begin.
