Seats - what am I missing?

I've been lurking for a while now, soaking up all the great information but something has got me stumped.

I'm trying to put the correct seats into my '72 Coupe and they won't fit. I've checked exploded parts diagrams etc. etc. but couldn't find the answer so I thought I'd post here instead and see if you guys can help me out.

Thanks in advance, hopefully it's something simple!

    Hi Maurice,

Easy answer: you are missing the seat base brackets. Send me your email and I'll send you a close up pic of what I mean. You need 2 of them. One for each side. These are fitted only on the side of the door.

    Thanks Erick,

Does anyone know the part number and if there's a source for these parts in UK/Europe or am I going to have to find second-hand?

Seat base brackets are NLA. Part number 901.521.016.00 for -1972.

There is one for sale here. Maybe seller has another one for the other side, too:

Here is another from the same seller:

Thanks for the photo Erick - nice seats!

Thanks Thomas - I have sent the vendor a message to see if he has a pair for an E series 911.

To clarify, my car is an E-series and I was a little confused if this bracket changed at all from 72 E to 73 F-series? Some sources gave the impression it did???

The seat brackets also have floating threads so you can not miss the line up of the screws. keep all screws loose until all screws are threaded, then tighten all. Chris

Nineapart has the right seat brackets, I bought mine there when I put the right seats in and dumped the old 80's recaros.

The seat tilt adjusters are suppose to be located on the outside (door side) when seats are installed; so you can reach them easily. It looks like your seat back is mounted to the wrong seat base. The locking seat base mechanism is to the tunnel side and the seat back adjustments are to the door side. The seat in the photo (passenger side) has all the controls on the same side.

+1 indeed the locking notches are on the tunnel side. the seat pictured is for the passenger side but the seat back tilt mechanism (black hinge) is for the driver side. you need to switch the hinges and find the missing parts(the 2 outer rails) and your done.
