Are you sure they have the VIN right?
    911021794 would be a '70 E correct?

    Kent

edit: VIN incorrectly stated in auction.

The ad says "This would be a great car to be involved with the Gruppe R club".
Never heard of a Gruppe R club.

My first thought was an E too, then I counted the numbers and it was one short...

This car was originally in Michigan, and was advertised by a private seller a couple of years ago. I saw the car in person when I was in Detroit for other reasons in August 2010 and had some free time. At the time, the interior was hideous, with white leather flames integrated throughout the car, and the fuse panel had been relocated to a filler panel installed in the front trunk. The car had a non-matching motor at that time. I passed on the car and it turned up at a BK auction the following year. It was purchased by another member here, who addressed a few issues and resold the car. It sure does photograph well now!

I thought it had clues to being a 1980's retro-conversion. Amazing what good photography can do. Just a little lipstick here and there
