    Engine tin color

    Should the engine tin on my 1967 911 be "chassis black" or "gloss black"? I am having it powder coated and the powder coater insists that the "satin black" is very close to the original "chassis black". I thought that the "gloss black", while shiny, was closer to my perception (I do not have a good car to look at).

    Mine is the same as John's, (satin) although I went for powder coat, which I did myself so that I could control the thickness/ appearance.

    Any two pack will give you the desired appearance/ chemical resistance.

    I did "60%" powder coat on my engine tin and it matches extremely well with the original finish - did in two batches and compared to cleaned and protected original finish....
