    Early shifter identification help

Would someone please identify this 901 shifter. It has a bend, towards the driver, about 3" up from the ball. Thank you.

I remember reading about this style of shift arm, but can't recall the thread, and I've had no luck using the "search" feature. Anyone know if this was an early, 64-66' piece?

Is the end of the lever threaded for the knob? I think threads went thru 68, after that the knob used the crush ring.

Thanks Ed. Yes, the end is threaded. It appears as one of the early, tall, levers, but the bend is peculiar, I think.

I have a pile of these early shifters and they all seem to have a bend towards the driver...or my head's on crooked.

What do you think Marco: 65' or 66', or later?

I'm going to follow Ed's lead here because I'm not 100% sure ... I know the threaded handles were up to 67 for sure (I have an unmolested 67 in my shop now), maybe 68 (I don't know) ... my comment was more to the point of the bend in the handle. I'm going to sift through the pile of shifters tomorrow to see if I can take a census on the bends.

All of the early 901 shifters have that bend. It goes back to 356 days. All the shifters were threaded through 67 YM cars. The crush washer appeared in the 68 YM cars.

    Regards

    Jim
