Its always best to state the year the parts/seat are out of.

If you are referring to removing the seat covering, pressing down on the seat covering material allows the folded edges to come out out the metal grove on the seat pan. At first it often seems they won't come out but gentle persistence pays off. Some some carefully applied silicone lube helps.

Having a helper or having some way of compressing the entire cushion or at least the whole front, side back etc is best. Just be very careful to not allow the cushion to rise while only part of the folded seat material is attached- this could lead to ripping and tearing of the seat cover material.

Yeah sorry about that I talking about 1969 regular seats not sport seats.

So if I understand you to swap out the seat bottom covering you simply compress the seat and then pull out the folded material.

I assume you just repeat the process to install the new coverings, is that correct?

Yes, correct. Again, just compress the seat cushion, ideally with a helper or sitting on it or some mechanical means. Slowly work your way around the edges. Sometimes the fold is rusted into the channel around the seat that makes for an exciting time. I found having the seat bottom facing upwards is best since one can see clearly the progress of the folded seat material coming out.

BUT while you are there definitely replace at least the cushion material if it is at all worn, compressed or looking shabby.

    Hope this helps,
