Thread: What Did You Do to Your 911 Today?

  1. #1721
I've had this 71 'T' for about 14 years now, its my daily driver, well except when it rains, which here for past couple years is not often enough! The car came with the dealer installed 'Koolaire' A/C system, which wasn't working when I got the car. I figured someday I'd update it and get it operational. Well this is the 'someday'. First order is to ditch the 'Koolaire' compressor mount, they were terrible, mounted that heavy compressor on the chain housing studs, those always stripped out due to weight and vibration. I'm converting it over to the Behr compressor mount, typical German panzer engineering! The 'Koolaire' A/C pulley was a bolt-on to the original pulley, kinda "rube goldberg" So I used a V.P.C. one piece pulley, but they used a unique V-belt shape that is unavailable now, and besides it wouldn't match the A/C pulley grooves. So I had to re-machine the pulley groove for a more common belt profile. I'm also using a Behr under dash unit since it has a much higher quality appearance than the cheap looking 'Koolaire' unit. Still to do is mount the evap and condenser.

I wanted to do this for long. As my car is for a long resto (body and engine), I spend a bit of sewing.

I can do your own too.

Jeez --- all my car-washing exploits pale

Your 'day' might just be worth it's own thread, even!

Jacques, Greetings. This may look like "Prince de Galles" but this is "Pied de poule". Could have been greater though.

    How is Trudy doing ?
