    Save Your Old Oil Lines

I thought I would share a recent oil line restoration.

The lines are TCH (Techno Chemie) from a 1967 911S, original to the car. The nuts are aluminum and the end fittings are steel - both no longer available as well as the blue tracer hose. Special care was used to remove the braiding from the old inner hose. The braiding is cleaned up and new hose installed. Everything gets crimped together and good as new. Amazing how well the old braiding cleans up. Save everything, including those Nadella Half Shafts

    Best regards,

Alan Klingen of The Stable did just this to Ol' Blue's ('67 911S) oil lines when he rebuilt the engine. They look great!

If you do have these lines, don't "reef" 'em down too tight as you'll strip the aluminum threads.

Brad, are you saying the braid sleeve can be removed from the rubber hose and reinstalled on new hose? I could maybe see how you could pull it off, but how do you get it over the new rubber,,,or pull the rubber through the braid,,,which ever,,,or would you have to kill me if you told me??

    Howdy Ed,

A bit of a wrestling match both on and off. If you scrunch the braiding together the ID opens up and you can get the new hose started. I like to slide the braiding to the middle of the hose and then work it out from the center. A long soak in kerosene helps free up the braiding before removal.

    Thanks,

    Brad
