Question on 2.2 T engine performance

I have a brand newly rebuilt 2.2T with webers. Unfortunately the head work performed by the previous owners shop was substandard, and resulted in cracked valve seat bosses after 700 miles. So needless to say, I am having to rip down the motor to a short block, and replace the heads with stock 2.2 T heads. My question is that while I am in this state of rebuild, is there any simple non invasive changes that can be made to yield close to E horse power? Perhaps a cam change, and higher compression pistons from say JE that will match up to the stock barrels and heads? I know that E and T heads were the same. I assume that the carbs would also need to be re-tuned for a higher HP setting also, and what about ignition/ distributor. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Back in the day Stoddard madre a "sport kit" for 2.2 Ts. I had one in my '70T and with short gears the car would run with an S up to around 100MPH. Stoddard claimed 25 HP gain, and I never dyno'd my car but based on performance believed the claim. The kit included 32mm venturis for the stock Zenith carbs and appropriate jets, foam Filtron air filters, a 7000 redline 911E rotor. Stoddard recommended a twin pipe sport muffler, but back then we ran straight magaphones, so I kept my stock muffler for the street. The claimed 25hp and 500RPM increase in redline made a dramatic improvement in performance....and I never opened the motor...stock heads, stock cams. With the short gears the car was a lot of fun and very competitive with a 3rd at the '73 Brainard Parade in the hotrod improved 6 cylinder class on old Bluestreaks.
