    very early 72e targa

Hello I have a very early 72E Targa #49 made, it has a 901 transmission has anyone heard of this before?
The car doesn't have the original motor so it is possible the transmission was changed.
The car may be a European delivery as the Speedo is in KPH the rest of the car has all 71s trim and all chrome.
I just wondered if anyone has come across this before.
The door pockets and pulls are also from a 71.
Is it possible an early 72 was dressed with 71 s trim from the factory.
The car also has very strange muffler/heat exchanger combo, looks like maybe a straight pipe could come directly off the exhaust manifold before the heat exchanger.....
    Puzzled plumber.

    S trim is S trim. You should have a 915. My 72S was built in 7/71 #9112300023 and it has a 915.
    72S, 72T now ST

Not sure what the difference is between trim in 71 and 72, but seems highly unlikely that the car would originally have come with a 901. A COA might help with a clearer picture.

We all know Porsche used up everything it had available prior to moving on to bigger and better things. If it's an early 72, maybe you should look at the clutch and see if it is the 71 style push type. Ultimately, the C of A should help with the transaxle numbers. Just a thought.
