    FIA HTP Papers

Has anyone here applied for the FIA HTP papers?

    What's the process like?

    Why did you do this?

    Richard,

You need an HTP to enter a car in any FIA Approved Historic Race, Hill Climb or Sporting Rally - but you can use a less demanding document for Historic Regularity Rallies where car performance is not really a significant part of the event.

There are several other Championships in the UK that also use an HTP as a control document and you need to turn up with this paperwork at scrutineering.

If the car complies with all aspects of the Category and Period that you are applying for and you have the relevant Homologation Forms and/or any other period proof demanded by Appendix K then it is relatively straightforward.

If the car is not compliant then I am sure it must be a misery.

It is all down to the level of detailed work that you do before completing the paperwork and calling the relevant scrutineer. The category and period of the vehicle will have a significant impact on spec and complexity.

    Good Luck.

The interesting point is that the FIA (Appendix K) provides the world with a common standard for historic racing. It's just not widely used in the United States. We're suffering from technological creep - which adds to the cost. SWB 911s continue to be developed far beyond their original design. 6-piston calipers for your SWB 911 are not cheap.

The west coast is generally more concerned with historical accuracy than the people on the east coast. I think Monterey has had a real influence. On the east coast we have the influence of HSR.

The only people in the states that apply for an HTP are people who intend to race the car in Europe - or sell it in Europe.
