I have a similar scenario with a Burgundy 1971E that I recently purchased. It is a good straight and fairly original car with no rust bar some surface rust where some of the paint used to be. I would like to keep the exterior as is for the meantime. Is there any downside to this if I keep the car dry and if so is there any treatment e.t.c I should apply to prevent the car rusting on the outside?

I keep the car inside and never get it wet. It will outlast me!

John, so nice to see some other folks enjoying the beauty of patina and originality. I too have done the concours thing, a long time ago, and will never go there again. Life is way too short for Qtips. Enjoy her.

As long as that heart is running strong... plus you also did all the brakes and suspension... For someone like me that still does not own a long hood 911, I could not let it continute to rot... I would at least treat the rusted areas with some form of rust neutralizer... at least to stop the rust worm...

Still love the looks and the fact that it is being enjoyed and driven. Do share more on the car when you can.

Thanks Mark. Don, it was freezing that day so we wrapped Monique up in an ol' blanket to keep her from shivering to much. You notice Randy had shorts on along with me...we're real men!

Here's a shot of her on a warmer day.
