    * NEED HELP WITH VALUE * 1968 base model 911 found in dry storage

Hi. I would first like to thank this community of enthusiasts for allowing me to join in. I'm pretty much a tri-five Chevy guy, but have a growing appreciation and love for early 356/912/911 Porsches. Any info on value before I commit myself to this transaction is greatly appreciated. I'm trying to acquire a 1968 base model 911 that has been sitting in dry storage for over 10 years. Normal pricing guides would consider it to be a #5 (poor) condition car because its not running or driving yet. From 10 feet, it appears to easily be a #4 car. I'm confident that it will be a great running car with less than a weekends worth of effort. Sounds good when cranking over, but does not currently have spark. Floor pans are rusty and need replacing, brakes should be gone through, and some cosmetic pieces such as, right front horn grill and marker light, letters on deck lid, and chip in windshield need repairs or replacing. Has original matching numbers Weber carbed engine and 5 speed trans. Original exhaust and heater box on driver side has been patched and repaired in several spots but appears to be a decent job (sorry, no pics). Body is extremely straight and solid with nice gaps. A good quality (non original color) paint job was done just before going into storage which is holding up very well. Interior is in decent condition but needs a driver door window regulator, carpet kit, and maybe door cards. Has 5 original Fuchs 14" alloys but tires need replacing. Last registered in early 90's and may have back fees, but likely out of DMV system by now. Again, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nice car, if numbers matching I would say $25-30k easy. Cool Racemark steering wheel too.

Looks like a nice project, shouldn't the Fuchs be 15's on a 68?

    15" x 5.5". One year only wheels I think.

I would think that 25K to 30K is a little generous. If the floors are rusty, be best assured there is other rust. The Fuchs are correct for that car. It appears to be 130 hp Normal, same as the L engine. A "Normal" is worth 60k to 70K totally restored. Is that the original color? I would think the car worth around 20K...maybe a little more. Remember...Marco has a rust free running 66 911 Normal that he'd take 25K for.

Good lookin 10 footer, perhaps Euro car given no side markers and Euro tail lights, or that all could have been done during the repaint. If Euro car and driven in salt I would look hard underneath, the floor may be the tip of the iceberg. I'm thinkin more in the $15,000 to $18,000 range, of course I may be all wet too!!

If you go by how the OP describes the car....without "assuming" more rust and major engine work:

    - Floor pans are rusty
    - Sounds good when cranking over, but does not currently have spark
    - Has original matching numbers Weber carbed engine and 5 speed trans
    - Body is extremely straight and solid with nice gaps

Sounds like a good, honest SWB....not easy to find these days. If this were posted on another forum for $25k it would be gone before you could say "Ciao"

If the floors need replacing then other rust issues will be present. Try to get it cheap because just paint and body work will run you in the 25K range. Sorry, to give you the bad news but it is what it is. It is a cool color though. -Scott
