I have a 68 SWB coupe and have seen two types of headlights. Mine (the scoops) then also some flush styled ones.
Im interested in the more modern looking ones.........I think.
Thanks
Chas

I believe the more modern flush ones are H1's which were European issue.

I believe it is straight forward swap just unplug and plug in. They are much brighter than US version so some states don't allow them not sure which ones. My '71 Targa is exempt from inspection so it would not matter. Also I am not sure if they are setup for right hand drive vs. left hand drive, maybe someone else can answer that.

You have two choices on your 'flush' lights . . . aka 'European,' aka non-sealed beam
H1s --- which are period-appropriate for a '68. Identified by dual reflectors (lo + hi), 4-adjusters on the trim ring, NLA (for, like, decades) = expensive
...(More here --- see post #135 . . . http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ten+fifty-nine)
H4s --- used from '70-71-on (?). Single-reflector, 2-adjuster, still available = affordable

Thanks Lone Ranger.......that makes more sense now.
When you say H1s period appropriate = $........how much are we talking? Also if Im so inclined to be period correct where would one find such an $ animal?
Thanks

I bought a pretty good set a few months ago for my rsr build and they cost me $800 shipped. I also got 6 bulbs new in box, a pair of brand new in box old stock quartz H1 lenses, and a broken light with perfect adjusters and internals incase I need parts. Pretty fair price for the lights and all the stuff I got ... IMHO.
Seen them from $400-500 and usually beat up. Seen them for over $1000 NOS in box.
I found mine on pelican. You see them every now and then. Samba has them occasionally.
thanks ducati
I have a line on a pair as we speak
pricey but perfect
