    No hydraulic chain tensioner, correct?

Just bought this 1970 911T on Ebay, and yes I had it PPI'd before finalizing the deal.

I am assuming this car does not have the hydraulic chain tensioner kit. Is that correct?
If so, where's the best place (i.e. lowest cost) to buy the kit? Thanks!

You are correct. I would source them through Pelican Parts.

    Thanks Max. Much appreciated.

What's the consensus on whether switching to a hydraulic t-chain tensioner is a good thing or not?

I thought support for this conversion was universal, but I have read some comments elsewhere on 911SRegistry that argue against it.

Sure, they (Oil Fed) can still fail but the frequency is pretty low and they are a lot better than the originals. Just make sure you get the "genuine article" and install them by the book. The other option are guards you can install on the existing tensioners but if you've gone that far you might as well change them.
Something else to consider as well. http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/tech/2002/3-2002.htm

    Good luck!

You can use the 930 tensioners with updated ramps + collars. I think this is pretty much just as reliable a solution as the hydraulics.

I use the 930 type, disassemble, and refill with 60wt. the late style idlers and tensioner guards. Been doing that for at least 25 years, no failures to date (at least that I know of!)

And that, as they say, "is all you need to know".

You are confusing hydraulic and pressure fed. Hydraulic tensioners (930) have no external oil lines like the 84- on pressure fed tensioners, so no tin cutting...

    Thanks beh911.
I'm going to go back and delete my previous post to avoid any further confusion.
