Thread: Right seat belt connector?

  1. #1

    Right seat belt connector?

I think parts heaven sold me the wrong one.

I'm trying to get rear seat belts for my 1969 E and I have two female receivers and one male connector, thanks to a forum member here.

So I call parts heaven and they say they have one male connector. They send me a picture and it wasn't till I ordered it that I noticed this.

Notice something odd? The guy also tells me that it says Porsche on the tag on the back of the belt.

    What do you guys think.

Could be that just the cover came from VW. Why don't you ask to see the tag with correct year?

I really doubt they are trying to rip you off. They're all really nice guys over there and will typically go out of their way to help. Keep in mind that they sell parts for ALL Porsches and small differences between models and years can get mixed up. Cancel the order if you don't like it and wait for someone to offer a part up on the board.

From a 914 maybe? I think the belt is the same just change the plastic cover - if you can find just that.

    Eli

They are not trying to "rip you off". Implying that in the title of your post is inappropriate and uncalled for!
You stated that they sent you pictures. It takes their valuable time to do that. I'm assuming that you received the same part that was in the pictures. Did you not?
You probably got a connector from a 70 or 71 914. It is exactly the same part as is used in your 69 911E. Some of them do, in fact, say VW on the cover (BFD!) but that is the only difference. If that is such a big deal to you, you needed to pay more attention.
Here is a photo of a rear seat belt connector from a 69 or 70 911.

    Warmest Regards

PS: I could only find one cover among dozens of connectors because all the rest of them have been ripped off. I'm sure the same thing happens at Parts Heaven.
Do you want to talk about being ripped off?

What is it with people being so paranoid that they think everyone is out to get them? I'm sure it was merely an oversight if it was a mistake at all.

Eli, consider toning it down. You won't win friends in this community by casting stones without just cause.

I will gladly change the title of this thread.

As far as winning friends I didn't realize that I was pissing so many people off. I was asking a question about whether I was getting ripped off or not,It was an honest question. Because I have not dealt with Parts Heaven until this point. I'm glad to here they are good outfit to do business with. And I have been ripped off pretty badly before when I was trying to find parts for my car, so yes I'm concerned about getting my moneys worth.

I just realized that connector could not have come from a 914. 914s use the came connector as a front seat connector from a comparable year of 911. (see the photo) It had to have come from the rear seats of a 69, 70 or 71 911. The other photo is a few rear seat connectors from 69 911s that people don't want to buy from me because the covers are gone. Where did the covers go? you ask? ..................They went into people's pockets, who think that stealing such a small part from an Auto Dismantler won't hurt anybody and won't be missed. Luckily, those people are a very small portion of the great people that frequent my place and Parts Heaven, as well.
Yup, you guessed it. This thread pissed me off and I don't even have a dog in this fight.

    Ciao
