Does anyone have picture(s) of window/fixed vent window area

I am replacing the L&R rubber window scrapers and the small black molding that sits below the fixed vent wing window. I am trying to determine if this small sealing piece butts directly against the rubber window scraper? .... or is there a small gap? Also does this piece run all the way to the leading edge to the window frame?

    Hope this makes sense?

I'll go take a couple. I even have one side with the trim off.

alright what you said kind of makes sense. I am assuming that you are noticing the gap in the window scraper? one side of my car has more gap than the other. I do think these seals did shrink. I've seen the vw golf stuff from 70's/80's also in OE form having different size gaps. I think they shrink. Originally I dont know how much or if there was any gap, however I doubt it as the fit/finish wouldn't be desirable. someone should measure a new one?

there is about a 3/8ths gap on the right side of this one by the edge of the door frame. its snug on the window. it will slide back and forth.

the other side has much less gap.

oh gotcha. need more photos or does the one work for you? I still imagine these shrunk as well, and bet they went all the way to the window scraper when new.

That's what I am wondering. I can put a little cement in the "grove" to hold in place after warming them a bit to stretch?

This is one of those details I have looked at hundreds of times but never noticed exactly where they run from the leading edge of the door back towards the window scraper.

Im not sure warming them up and stretching them out is going to make you happy. I bet new seals for this spot are pretty reasonable. I've admittedly never looked so who knows. Anytime I take this stuff apart and im redoing a car thats this old I just try to replace all the rubber. I've done it a couple times on old watercooled vw's and it makes such a huge difference in noise, and quality of ride. The old seals just shrink, or harden and get dried out, they are just junk. The only problem is non OE stuff (at least for vw) thats remade never fits right, and its a cluster getting all the glass in to fit just right.

Digital K- I agree totally, that is why I am using new seals. I found if I warmed them slightly they expanded to provide good length.

Its the exact placement/location that I am after.

The old ones were hard and brittle. New ones are heap. Well worth to help keep moisture out of the doors.
