My '68 911 Normal with a build date of 11/6/1967 has the large Durant.

Thanks for getting back , I am interested to know if 68 swb model was the first year of the large mirror. In other threads on other body parts it has been suggest that the 68 model ended up a mix of parts between swb and lwb. My build date was 12/67 for 1/68 delivery

They started delivering cars with the larger mirror in the spring/early summer of '67 - there was apparently some back and forth, though, and it may have appeared earlier in the US. My May build '67 has a large one, original as far as I can tell.

I believe the correct mirror for your car is the large Durant. You also may be able to see better out of it than you can with the small Durant as noted in one of the comments above. For anyone re-doing a car and using the small Durant, if you aren't hung up on going 100% original, you will find that if you mount it a little further back than the original stock position your rear view visibility will be much better.

401(k) ('68 912) was purchased in the US Oct. '67. It has the large Durant mirror. I am the second owner.
