    FS: SWB Tool Kit

** No Longer For Sale **

This kit has a ways to go and I'm going to wait until I complete it or perhaps sell individual tools.

    Here was the original FUBAR:

I have a SWB tool kit that is complete and 83% original. Here are the contents:

    • (5) Drop Forged Steel wrenches: 8x9, 10x11, 12x13, 14x15, 17x19 - original (three large font, two small font)
    • Chrom-Vanadium Box wrench: 19x22 - original
    • Klein red handle flat blade screwdriver - repro
    • Klein red handle Phillips screwdriver - original
    • Spark plug wrench - Klein 21 - probably early LWB, maybe late SWB
    • Allen wrench - original
    • Generator wrench - P208 - original
    • Hapewe (?) pliers - I believe these are the these are the very rare original ones
    • 19mm Klein lug Wrench with curved tip - original
    • Pudenz fuse pack - original
    • Messko dual scale tire gauge - original
    • Messko pouch - Orange Bar repro
    • Original Porsche fan belt 9.5x7.10 - original
    • Ribbed tool bag - original

No longer for sale, but the documentation of a correct SWB kit continues...

    Hi John,

Why do you say Hepewe are original to SWB kits? Please show pics of this rare version of the pliers. In fact, please post nice pics of everything. Thanks.

I guess I assumed they were made by Hepewe (how do you pronounce that?). Here's a picture:

I'm aware that Eric believes that these were the only correct SWB pliers and I bow to his experience and knowledge. But you see so many different kinds of pliers and so few of these that it makes me wonder if perhaps Porsche didn't change them depending on what was available. But I believe that these are the anointed ones.

    I also have these:

We (I?) don't know the mfgr of those pliers but they look CORRECT. Hepewe pliers that I'm aware of are marked as same and came along late in LWB kits, i.e. '73.

The attachments a (At least when I clicked on them, didn't work)

Nice kit. The spark plug wrench is wrong and the SWB is VERY hard to get. There should be Five DFG's wrenches (some 356C kits had only four). ALso, early SWB kits, "script" on DFG's should be large on ALL the wrenches, like on the 356C kits) The Messko looks wrong (But it is hard to see) It should have a dual scale.

Yes, I stated that the spark plug wrench I have was most likely for a LWB. And you're right, they are difficult to find. That's why I guarantee the buyer of this kit that I will trade him for the one included plus the difference in market value ( I paid $300 for the last SWB spark plug wrench I bought a while back) when and if I find another one. And I have the DFS 17x19 but it's wasn't in the picture which was taken before I received it. Also, I have the correct fan belt but it's not pictured.

The Messko does have a dual scale. And you're about the wrenches. I have four out of five that are large font.

It's time to go back to work on this kit. I do have a LWB kit that I'm confident is complete, correct and original and I will be offering it soon. No more partial kits, but given the difficulty of assembling a 100% correct SWB kit I may just sell those tools individually.

Thanks to Allen for the input. I would hate to misrepresent something.

You edited your text but initially you wrote about your spreadsheet that contained individual tool prices to come to the total.

Would you mind sharing those prices?

BTW since SWB spark plug wrenches are so hard to find I wonder how more days more before the repro's hit the market.

Interesting. Mine is all complete as above, except the pliers are a Japanese replacement. The plug wrench is Klein "21" but has a spring on a flexible joint. Not sure if that is original.
