Shoulder belt removal from '71 Targa

    Hey gang,

I need to pull the seats from my '71 targa.

How do you remove the cover for the shoulder mount without tearing it?

    Thanks

I have a 71 coupe and remember not being able to figure that one out also.

I push the cover up slightly to allow a thin 11/16th" open end wrench access to the bolt head, and then unscrew the mount bolt. If the belt is still flexible enough (usually by this time they're not) you can work the belt up to create a loop opposite the bolt head for better access, but that only works with fairly new flexible belts.
