1967 sunvisors vs. 1968 sunvisors: What's the Difference?

    Neighbors,

There was a WTB ad for '67/'68 sunvisors on the other forum. The responses said the visors were different for the '68.

    Can anyone explain/show the difference?

Thanks, as always, for the education.

Up through '67 the visors just flipped up or down. In '68 they pivoted to protect the side windows as well.........................

This is absolutely wrong!! Both pivot points are fixed and 67/68 are the same. They changed for LWB. I still need a perfect pair if anyone has a pair.

Targas are definitely the same '67 and '68.

68 only has pivot brackets that are white/ivory in color. Others are black.

They are white (in Coupes) in 69 as well. When talking about sunvisors we need to state wheter the car is a coupe or a Targa. They are apples and oranges.

PS: Thanks Jay for the link. You are much better at this computer stuff than me.

Ok after more digging it seems that really early cars had the double pivot (there is one on E bay now) and after that they went to the detachable swing out style....

EVERY 900 series car built before the 68 YM Coupes had double pivots like a Targa (the visors are a different shape and color, though). There are different versions of the visors. Look at the link provided by Jay for clarification on Sunvisors for Coupes and Targas.

In accord with Dr. B.Johnson`s 911 & 912 PORSCHE, page 60, 1991 2nd edition, says that: 68 had light color clips and black down white up colored visors. Also, they would pivot to the side windows...(coupe)...Were light colored clips exclusive to 68`?.......Cliff
I have also noticed that the earlier versions allowed space for the roof mounted mirrors, with the central portion of the visor being shorter for the 68 & back mirrors to mount. The 69 forward visors have a longer central visor portion as the mirror is now mounted on the window & the visors almost touch each other....Cliff
68`s pivot and 67`s do not.
