    Auction Description:

    • Holy Grail for the 911 collector
    • Desirable Aga Blue colour scheme from new
    • Very rare factory electric sunroof
    • Professionally restored in Belgium 2015-2019
    • Matching numbers example

Offered here we have an early 911S finished in the beautiful colour of Aga Blue and featuring the very rare factory electric sunroof, the latter something of a 'Holy Grail' among early Porsche 911 enthusiasts. Manufactured in February 1967, chassis number '307660S', is one of the early, short-wheelbase cars of the type much favoured by the historic rallying fraternity, a situation that has led to original examples such as this one becoming a great rarity and consequently much in demand.

Noteworthy features include the dashboard instruments with green dials (correct for the 1965-1967 model years); a period-correct Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio; and the 911S's distinctive Fuchs five-spoke alloy wheels. This 911S was equipped with the Type 901/20 five-speed manual transmission and left the factory finished in Aga Blue (code 6608B) with black vinyl interior. Chassis number '307660S' was also ordered with the following desirable options:

    Electric sunroof
    Coloured windows
    Antenna
    Loudspeaker
    External mirror, left
    Two pairs of safety belts

The 911 2.0-litre S was delivered new to P.C. Import Inc of Northbrook, Illinois, USA in 1967. The Porsche is believed to have remained in the USA until sold to a new owner in Italy, being imported on 16th April 2010 to Brescia. On 13th February 2014 the car was exported from Italy to Belgium, having been bought by the current owner.

Commencing in 2015, a complete 'last nut and bolt' restoration was undertaken that took the next four years to complete at no expense spared. We are advised that every part of the car has been expertly restored to original specification by known specialists in Belgium. Works carried out included complete rebuilds of the engine and gearbox and the installation of a new interior. The interior features original seats, trimmed with black-and-white Pepita fabric (originally they were black leatherette). Of note is the original type steering wheel, a rare feature on a 1967 2.0S. The restoration was fully documented, there being 50-plus photographs of the car before restoration and 200-plus taken during and after the process on file. Currently registered in Belgium (the date of 1st registration is 1966), the Porsche also comes with an original plastic pouch containing the instruction manual, service information, and technical booklet.

Of the early (pre-A Programme) 911s, the final 1967 cars are considered the most desirable by many Porsche aficionados, combining as they do the stylistic purity of the original with greater refinement and superior road manners, particularly in the case of the top-of-the-range 911S.

    Dealer Description:

One-Owner 1970 Porsche 911S, Numbers Matching, Original Colors, California Car!

This wonderful 1971 Porsche 911S was delivered new at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart to its first and only owner. Mr. J. Korbin of Lompac, CA purchased this 911S and used it while he was stationed with the US Air Force in Germany. He kept the car with him in Europe for about 3 years and had his local Porsche dealer bring the car back to his home in California. Mr. Korbin, an Air Force man his entire career would cherish, and meticulously maintain his 911S until his passing in 2016. The drivers front turn lens still adorns the Department of Defense Vandenberg AFB entrance badge. The car was then kept by his wife and driven and maintained by her until 2021. Mr. Korbin left a journal of hand written notes from the day the car returned back from Germany in 1974 through 2016. Every gas stop, every oil change, valve job etc is written down. Major service notes include a full engine rebuild in 2006 along with new clutch and brakes. About $20,000 worth of service records since 2014 include new fuel pump, rebuilt MFI System, new stainless exhaust and heat exchangers, new Capacitive Discharge (CD Box), new alternator, new front and rear Bilstein shocks, and new driver seat upholstery. A recent PPI showed compression of 165 PSI across all 6 cylinders.

The car was repainted in its correct Light Ivory exterior in the early 2000's. The paint and cosmetics show quite well. Brand new Pirelli CN36 tires from Sept. 2021 wrap the dated coded 10/70 15"x6" Fuchs Wheels. The 911S specific aluminum rear deck lid is present and in great condition. The underside is very clean and rust free as one would expect of a garaged, California, loved 911S. The car runs and drives very nicely. The MFI was recently rebuilt and engine has great compression as not many miles since the rebuild in 2006. The transmission shifts well and steering and brakes are tight. One minor paint chip on top of passenger fender and a light scratch on rear deck lid. Included with the car are original owners books, the journal of mileage and service history, California 911S C Blue Plate, original European delivery plates from Stuttgart 1970, recent service records, tool roll, date coded Fuchs spare wheel, and an email from David J. Pateman (Kardex Expert, COA) that this car is a true numbers matching and color example. This car is being sold from a reassigned California title in the Korbin's name, so whoever purchases this car will be the 2nd registered owner.
What are your guys opinions on this Light Ivory car? I have also been looking at this Albert Blue ‘72 S and would love to get your guyses thoughts on them both. Thanks.

    Dealer Description:

We are excited to offer this 1970 Porsche 911S Coupe finished in Sepia Brown over a Russet leatherette interior. Marking the first model year in which the 911 engine displacement was increased for performance, this 1970 911S was reportedly sold new from Hilltop Porsche/Audi of Virginia Beach after the original owner traded in his 1969 Corvette. The car changed hands several times before making its way to Canada where it was acquired by the owner of Riegel Tuning in 1992. It was then sold to a private owner back in the U.S. in 2005 who carried out restoration including a full glass-out respray, refurbished wheels, and rebuilds of the braking and suspension systems. Accompanied by an extensive history of maintenance as well the original owner’s manuals and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this rare U.S. market 1970 911S is now being offered for sale out of Utah.

In 2005, this 911S was treated to a full glass-out respray in its factory specified color of Sepia Brown (7474) which included refinishing of the door jambs and undersides of the front and rear decklids. An optional heated rear window and rear window wiper were equipped from the factory along with the Comfort Equipment package which adds gold lettering on the rear. As an S model, this 911 features a lightweight aluminum rear decklid and central rear bumper panel. This example has also been modified with H4 headlamps and a chrome rear bumper bar. The 15” Fuchs wheels have been refinished, anodized, and fitted with a set of colored Porsche center crests and Pirelli P6000 tires dated from 2018. Inside, this 911S sports a Russet leatherette interior with S-specific instrumentation, aluminum door sills, and a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Coco floor mats have been fitted and a period-correct Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is mounted in the dashboard. This 911S is equipped with an air-cooled 2.2L flat-six engine featuring Bosch mechanical fuel injection, forged pistons, and an output of up to 180 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed 901 manual gearbox, and stopping power is handled by aluminum brake calipers paired with ventilated rotors at all four corners. Koni shock absorbers have also been equipped along with SSI heat exchangers and a Dansk muffler. The brakes and suspension are said to have been rebuilt during the restoration and an extensive collection of maintenance records will accompany the sale as depicted in the photo gallery. This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, service log, and sales documentation, a collection of maintenance records, a toolkit, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. A highly sought after and beautifully presented long-hood 911S, this 1970 example is just waiting to be cherished by a new caretaker.

I'm watching, as I'm sure many others here are as well. BAT is like the wild west. Great fun to watch, but prices are all over the place (usually waaaaaaayyyyy high), and there are a lot of lipstick-on-a-pig cars. Personally, I wouldn't buy a car from BAT (and I've been seriously tempted a few times) without an in-depth PPI from a knowledgeable and unbiased marque mechanic. The risks just seem too high for the prices being commanded. My .02.

    Hear-hear . . .

. . . I've seen some of the cars offered on BaT in person . . . and --- IMO . . . anyone who bought those cars (at any price) would be more-than-a-little disappointed . . .
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-bmw-316-3/

The really frustrating part about BaT is almost any negative comments, questions, or observations either get . . .

    A) . . . deleted, or . . .

    B) . . . heckled by the vaunted BaT Community --- = who are mostly just a bunch o' cheer-leaders and Story Tellers, if you ask me

Anyway, I barely comment there, anymore. I'll still shop the site --- there's some pretty wild stuff that turns-up, there, and no where else . . .

    . . . but --- for the kind of sums we're talking about? . . .

    . . . no/zip/zero/nada/notta chance of a sale without a proper PPI

    PCAR Market Description:

We are pleased to offer this rare 1967 Porsche 911S Targa finished in Special Order Tangerine over a black interior. Marking the introduction of both the 911S and Targa model with the early soft rear window configuration, this 1967 example is said to be one of only 483 built for the model year and was delivered new from the factory to the Hans Kahrmann Volkswagen-Porsche dealership in Fulda Germany, one of the four original Porsche dealerships. This Targa remained in Germany for two years with all service work being performed at the factory per Kardex before it was exported to Southern California in 1969 where it has remained ever since. This 911S was the subject of a recent 3,000-hour nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration at the hands of early 911 specialist Brad Baldwin of Los Angeles, CA. With both the original 911S and Soft Window Targa models rare in their own respects, this 1967 example represents one of the most coveted early 911s in existence. Said to retain its number matching drivetrain and accompanied by its original 1969 California license plates, this 911S Targa was recently featured at Monterey Car Week and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with less than 100 miles traveled since the completion of the restoration.

During its recent restoration, this Targa was placed on a rotisserie, stripped to bare metal, and painstakingly refinished in its original Special Order paint color of Tangerine (2002P). The restoration is said to have been carried out to the highest show quality standards and the seller notes that a 12-year SunTek ceramic-infused self-healing paint protection film has been applied over the full exterior. Detailed images of the car and the restoration process are provided in the gallery. Several notable changes were introduced to the bodywork of the 911 for the 1967 model year including the addition of rubber covers to the chrome overriders, wider rubbing strips on the chrome bumper and rocker moldings, and a new design for the chrome door handles. This 1967 example also debuted the original Targa top configuration with a distinctive silver roll-over bar and removable plastic rear window. This 911S rides on first-year 15" x 4.5" Fuchs forged aluminum wheels that come dressed in a set of period-style Michelin tires.

Inside, the cabin has been re-trimmed in black leather along with new carpeting, a new dashboard, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a period Blaupunkt radio.

1967 saw the introduction of Porsche’s 911S model with a 2.0L engine featuring a higher compression ratio, forged aluminum pistons, revised cam profiles, and larger valves resulting in an output of up to 160 HP. The 911S also came equipped with front and rear anti-roll bars, Koni shock absorbers, and ventilated disc brakes. The recent restoration of this 911S included a full rebuild of the original 2.0L flat-six engine, numbers-matching 5-speed manual gearbox, suspension, steering, and braking system.

This sale will include a Kardex, original 1969 California license plates, a spare tire, and a clean title. This rare and beautifully restored 1967 911S Targa makes an excellent investment opportunity as well as a fine addition to any classic Porsche collection, do not let this opportunity pass you by.
    On eBay, too…
