    Man that thing looks tired! I'm guessing the BIN buyer is either going to sink another $50k-$70K into the car to make it right or he's going to get a quick case of buyer's remorse before taking delivery, in which case, we'll be seeing it back on ebay in a few days.....

    Here's the actual "useful" text in the ad (not much to go on for $82K):

    "DESCRIPTION
    This 1972 Porsche 911S Targa . It is equipped with a Manual transmission. The vehicle is Green with a Black Leatherette interior. It is offered As-Is, not covered by a warranty. - 1972 Porsche 911S Targa Chassis No. 9112310859 Engine No. 6321240. Highly desired among Porsche enthusiasts, this bold Viper Green 911S Targa is an absolute thrill! The car has recently received a great deal of attention with is comprehensive ground-up restoration, reviving 911 into the strong and handsome driver. On top of its beautiful exterior finish, every mechanical item throughout the vehicle has been well sorted through; repairing and replacing whatever deemed necessary with all receipts from 1998-2011 accompanying the car. The 911S comes complete with the once removed factory original A-C equipment and front seats as well as Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. While not restored to show condition, the 911 ought to be an ideal companion for pleasant drives, the occasional Porsche gathering, rallies, slalom courses, and especially long-distance tours. Highly Desirable 2.4L 911S Targa! Well Sorted & Ready to Drive! Servicing Receipts & Porsche COA! Only: $82,500.00 "

    From the pictures, though, it looks like it's all there and in relatively good shape...worth a look to me...

    Glad to see a sister car to my '72...

    1967 Porsche 911S (?) - Needs work....

    VIN = 308452 per ad

    The description of the aluminum stamp plate would indicate a Normale. Any other input?

    It's an S. The "type" is 911S. The fact that there isn't an "s" behind the serial number on the latch plate id plate is immaterial, most of my 67S's didn't/don't have an S stamped after the serial number on this plate either. The "type" is the main indicator of the car. There was a previous discussion of this issue.

    He'd kind of a crappy seller,... he's harvesting the car before our very eyes at the same time the car is for sale, he's selling or has sold the engine lid grill, the alternator housing, the carb manifolds.....

    are you saying that not all 911S have the S stamped on the door plate or on the i.d. under the hood?and if so is this the same in 1968?
