    73S Targa carpet?

Ok after owning this car for 26 years and only ever having driving it 2 miles and barely getting home, its time to get moving on it. Why so long you ask? Many other cars, over a hundred actually, house, kids, college and now no wife. This is the only one I have kept. When I bought it it was somewhat of a project and someone had stolen the carpet. As I remember the S had different carpet than the T and E. Is that correct? Where or who do I get the correct carpet from?

Yes, the S was different than the T and E. Many use perlon, which is incorrect. It should be a cut pile Zellwoll velour, in black (not salt and pepper). I found a correct original set in a 73S coupe that I repaired with some partial sets I collected. The only place I know that sells the right original material is http://www.cabrio.de/khm/index.php?o...=en#wollvelour

Thanks for the info. My car has tan leather and I don't have any of the original carpet to even see what color or texture it looked like. Is there any place in the USA that might have it?

The guy doing much of my restoration has a 1973S coupe with tan leather interior, all original, even the paint. He uses the car as a reference. I'll check in with him next week when I am in Toronto.

I wonder why some of the cars were black carpet and others salt and pepper. Any insight ? Clyde and Steve are on different continents, so different markets seems an implausible explanation.

Hmmm. You guys have me second guessing the carpets I bought from someone on this board who claimed them correct for 73 or from a 73. I honestly forget which. According to this same site, http://www.cabrio.de/khm/index.php?o...=en#wollvelour the black knit velour would be 74- , but should be 22 pieces. Which is 3 more than they say for -73. I'm gonna have to check when I go home.
