    Schläfer-Gruppe

you heard it here first I think it's a fun new direction for my '67

    'Schläfer-Gruppe'

sleeper group. cars that look slow, but aren't.

the perfect Schläfer-Gruppe car would have a prominent 912 badge, even if it's a 911.

    other Schläfer-Gruppe features........

    longnose

    steel rims with hubcaps

    never flared

    roof rack

at least as high as stock ride height

    aftermarket folding sunroof

all chrome accessories, armco bars, other extra doo-dads

fiberglass body parts OK as long as they look stock

    dorky fog lamps

cheesy tourist stickers in the windows

    and so on.....

and of course sporting a big engine. at least a hot 2.7, preferably 3.0, 3.2, 3.4. suspension and brake mods OK but can't be obvious.

added bonus! less attention from law enforcement

I'm thinking I could have a bit of fun with this.

You're a goof. I think you need to sleep on this idea a bit more.

I like the idea of putting a 2-liter twin cam in a 912 for the ultimate sleeper...

Then again, your idea might be less expensive.

    In the early 70's I had a four cam 904 engine in a 912

The factory did it's own sleeper, Carrera 4 cam in the 911, upwards of 180hp, in the T7. Hans Mezger's car from 1964, prototype 13 326 was a hot rod. Rolly your car had to have been so cool.

Re: Four cam 904 engine in a 912
I bought the four cam 912 from a race car driver named Miles Gupton and used it as a daily driver,
dropped a valve seat one night and pulled the engine and put a push rod engine in the 912 to use
as a dailey driver as the four cam was not very good in rush hour traffic. Kept the engine looking
for a Carrera coupe without an engine but couldn't find anything and one day I get a call asking if
I still had the engine and if I'd sell it I thought it over and said I'd sell it complete as taken out of
the 912 muffler and all with the valve seat fixed, a running 904 engine for $3500, It's still around.

    Regards
