    Introducing 9113300092 and myself..

    Good afternoon everyone,

I have been lurking for a while on the site, and have been looking through the great threads and fantastic stories. I thought that it was time to introduce my car.

The car, a 1973 S, has been residing in South Africa for quite a few years, but was delivered new to the USA, to the following dealer UA (L.A. Culver city). The invoice date is 01/09/1972. I acquired the car, in November 2012, and must say that I do not know much history, bar the last two owners. So, I unfortunately do not have a great story such as the ones that I have been reading here.

This is my second 2.4S, after having owned chassis 9112310369, a 72 targa in the late 90s, which i have always regretted selling. Sadly, the new owner converted the original engine to an RS spec.

The new car is unfortunately not in a great condition and needs a lot of TLC, it was originaly delivered in Sepia brown, with imitation beige leather interior. extras were Koni shocks and tinted windows. It has the original engine (6330162), has all the right S bits so at least everything is here. It is currently in light yellow, it looks like at some stage in its life, it was leaf green (or a shade of it), the beige interior was replaced with a black interior, with one sport seat and one standard seat, non orginal dashboard, RS type interior, non original rear parcel shelf, etc.. You get the picture.

The car was running but quite rough, and definitely a far cry from my previous memory of my last S. The car had 4 different brand of tyres on, 2x 195/65, 1x 185/70 AND 1x 205/55 . it made for some interesting driving during the test drive and the drive home.

I am currently in the process of rebuilding the suspension and brakes, as everything was very worn out... Seized rear calipers, worn bushes, cracked cv joints boots, etc.. next I will tackle the oil leaks, need some new oil return pipes..

Before getting stuck into the body which seems solid (Who knows what is below the shiny paint), I intend to get the car running properly and enjoy a bit.

An introduction is not complete without a few photos, so here you go...

    Hello, Jean-Luc . . .

Welcome to Our Little Corner. And glad that you've found a car . . . and hope that you enjoy it

Read your remarks that you believed that the car was 1st sold in Culver City . . . but what does 'UA' mean?
