    Blaupunkt Frankfurt Stereo radio details

I have one, but I think it is an older style. It says Frankfurt (US) S on the sticker, and a Z code right below it. All white dial, no blue dot. Probably 356 style, not sure. Have a bunch of Koeln radios too. Let me know if the frankfurt sounds what you are looking for and I will take some pics. Chrome is perfect, dial is clean. No knobs.

I have a complete Frankfurt Z with correct knobs and adjusters. Looks and works excellent. I also have some less fantastic Frankfurts. Shoot me an email to matt@unobtanium-inc.com if you are still looking for a radio. -- Matt

P.S. - I am standing by my oft-repeated assertion that the factory never installed a Blaupunkt with a blue dot on the face. There has been tons of research and back and forth on this, and the consensus is that the blue dot radios MIGHT have been installed by dealers, but never came that way from the factory. I'm sure this is still up for debate someplace...

I have a couple of Frankfurt stereos, PM sent. The blue dot is on most Blaupunkts after 68 (A code on) including Porsche and all Frankfurt stereo. I had a Y code 67 Koln with blue dot and plastic secondary knobs with the pointer. The face and secondary knobs changed together.

    Question

would this make it a Z code or an S code?! Confused.

What year could this be from?

    That's a Z-code...

The label indicates that it is a Z code... not sure of the date though...

According to the website below, "Z" code is for '67-'68.

73 should be an F code. No SW on the 70's US models either. Guess we didn't need to hear the Voice of America unless we were actually in Vietnam.
As for the blue dot. This radio is documented original to the car (a 73S, but not mine) which was a factory delivery. https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=F147D...1811&sc=photos

Forget Der White, Z is mid 68-mid 69. They are the first one piece Frankfurts and often have a dysfunctional volume control from my experience.

My bet is it was installed by the dealer. I'm not buying the blue dot theory. At this point we've had at least a hundred radios pass through our hands which all were pulled from cars by shops (and a few pulled ourselves) and we have never, I repeat NEVER had a blue dot radio. Obviously that's not definitive in any way, but it backs up my assertion.

I don't remember seeing any 69-73 Frankfurts without the blue dot face.
