    Pre MoMo

    Found this on ebay.
I doubt it to be a Momo, but perhaps someone can chime in who knows what it is.
I suspect it to be just a wooden wheel

I think it could be a pre-MOMO. Paulo (papiko) had one with the identical spokes but with a leather covered grip for sale on ebay not too long ago. He had it priced around $1500 and it sat for a long time. I don't know what it eventually sold for. I think these are super-cool but the wooden grip version would probably be best for an Alfa -- or something else old and Italian. I would love to see one in a 356 too.

I think there's only one or two people in the world, who could say for sure if it's a MOMO/pre-MOMO. Those two people are former Moretti associates; Marco Cattaneo and Mario Acquati. The mounting holes look MOMO but aren't beveled and are tipped. No stampings aren't unusual for early Moretti wheels. Bottom line... who knows?

Good day guys, yes it´s called a pre-momo or Abarth wheel i have not seen many, actually in wood this is the second one i have seen in leather i saw mine and Edmond Harris has one, mine i sold to a Swiss serious car collector and went to an early 911 SWB has i understood, but this person is a really collector with many cars, that races expensive cars like Ferrari 250 SWB and Original ABARTHS barcchetas among others, from what i found out later on by googling his name later on!!So i guess my one was sitting until the right guy saw it!!For the rest i completly subscribe Mark words. He is the guy to talk when it concerns MOMO.

    All the best for all,

    Paulo

Thanks Mark. Paulo, I have to say it looks better in leather than wood, but it's still not one of my favourite wheels. There's something disproportionate about the slots/spokes. I do appreciate that it's rare and collectible and I'm happy that you did well with it. I find it satisfying to be able to complete a car restoration by providing the correct steering wheel to make it complete and whole... hell, that goes for any rare and exotic parts that I have.
