Paint spec needed for battery box area behind horn grills

What is the right paint for the area behind the grills on a 73? Is it painted black (flat or semi-gloss)? And is that paint just on the front of the battery boxes, or the top as well? That area is body color currently due to a recent refresh and I believe that's not "factory".

To the best of my knowledge, and the way I have tried to duplicate the finish, it is just black paint applied with a brush to just get the areas you could see. As to whether it is flat or semi I can't tell for sure what it was due to age, I usually just use semi,,,,,,, right or wrong.

Yeah, what Ed said... looks to me like the front, most of the top, and the bottom of the 5 sided box is painted black (mine is flat from grime and time) But on a '73 some of the side and back of the box got as much body color over-spray as they felt like giving it.....
