Seat recliner questions- 2 and 3 hole upper, chrome and black.

My 67 has 3 hole (upper) chrome seat recliners as do earlier 911, 912, and 356's. 72 and 73 have black 2 hole uppers on the recliners as I am told. When did Porsche change from a 3 hole to a 2 hole upper in the 68-71years. And when did they go from chrome to black.
If you have rebuilt your black recliners cosmetically what did you use to get the original black look?
Any help here will be much appreciated. Chris

They went from 3 holes in 68 to 2 holes in 69. They went to black with the 72YM cars and 73s were the same.

Picture #1` L TO r 66 and earlier left seat hinge. (No hook at the bottom for a seat back lock) 68 left seat hinge. (still 3 holes but with a seatback lock hook)
Picture # 2 middle one is a 69/70 right seat hinge. (Note: 2 holes and a release on the side of the hinge for the seat back lock) the right one is a 71 (Note the little lever at the top of the hinge for the seatback release)
Picture # 3 L to R 71 seat hinge and the one on the right is a crappy 72/73. They are essentially the same as the 71 hinge except they came with lousy black paint instead of nice chrome.

    Regards

    Jim
