69s Brake dust shield color

Hi
Doing a search I have come up with that the rear brake dust shield should be black in 69. Mine have been spray painted at some point (gray). When I started to strip them I found that they were gold plated underneath. Can't say they are original but they look like they have been there a long time. Car is a late a late 69 build. So, the question is do I go back to cad or go black?

They were yellow zink. Paint them pink if you want to, though.

Ahh, I remember when I first painted my brake shields pink... I felt so, so, free...
