    69-73 kneepads

    Hi,

Are the 69-73 kneepads identical through the years, size, shape and molding? How about G model (74 up), same and if not where do they differ.

    Thanks,

    Cees

I would say all 69-73 are the same and that some of 74 were also the same because I had a '74 Carrera that were the same as 69-73, but they do then subtly change at some point, whether that is during 74 or later I am not sure.

I couldn't find the thread, but somewhere I read that '69-'87 have the same shape and mounting points, but that in the mid-seventies the vinyl covering changed in thickness and pattern. Having said that, I have a set of pads, including the ashtray bit, from the late 70's in my '69 coupe, and they are nearly identical to the original set they replaced...however, the contour of the cabin-facing padded bit IS very slightly different, and even though the grain or pattern is very similar, it is not quite identical.

I'm sure there are others who can give precise details on the differences.
