Which type of carpet for a December '65 66MY car

    Hi,

I am really new to everything 911 after having been involved with 356's for years. With Jim (EASY) help I have been able to pick up a real solid '66. Problem is that the previous owner stripped the whole interior somewhere in the 70's. I am trying to make the car a driver and as such am on the hunt for original interior pieces. One thing I am unsure of is the carpet. Jim believes it should have the 356 style square weave carpet. I have also sen pictures of a different looking carpet. Which is correct?

    TIA,

    JK

Yep. Square weave on the 65-66.

Thanks for the quick replys. A follow up question. Would the floor mats have been rubber or square weave.

I believe the floor mats would have been SW with rubber mats on top? At least that is what 2 of my early 912´s came with.

So if I understand correcty this set would not be original for the car as it is the later style and not the square weave?

You are correct, not SW and not sure about the correctness of shapes either.

I think that the set you're looking at is for 911 - they came with velour/haargarn at that time, with square weave in the front compartment.

Thanks for your reply, are you saying that instead of SW velour/haargarn is original? Based on the other responses I was under the impression that the whole car was equipped with SW.

You had 2 responses from 912 guys - who told you that they had square weave. Wait till the 911 guys weigh in - I'm pretty sure standard carpets were different.
