Thread: 1971 911T original radio a Clarion?

    Cool 1971 911T original radio a Clarion?

I bought the car from the original owner and have the manual for the radio as well but I can't find any examples of early 70's 911's coming with Clarions. The car was originally sold in San Diego. Anyone have any info on this. It looks to me like they all cam with the Blaupunkt Frankfurt?
    Thx in advance........

Clairon radios were dealer installed as Mike and Bret said. They were available through VWoA (and others) and even had full installation kit with a Porsche accessory part number. Our dealership didn't order raidos with the cars so the customer could choose their preference. (Unless one of the very few non spec cars were ordered) Also a big profit maker for the shop&parts. The clairon would be good for concourse if it was dealer installed per PCA rules but you will need paper verification. I sill think the car shows better with a factory style raido....and Clairons not a very good quality radio compared the the Blaupunkt or Becker IMHO.

The sales order or window sticker are the only ones that I know of.

My '71 came with the Motorola/Sapphire AM/FM with Porsche face plate. Also, I assume dealer installed. I have since installed a Frankfurt because they just look better, take an iPod adapter, and don't involve molded plastic basket weave.

Too bad they didn't fill out the warranty card....That may have worked. Let the judges chime in.
